Identity, Magazine Design & Photography | Living Wheaton Magazine
Living Wheaton is a magazine we designed for Downtown Wheaton. We designed this publication from concept through completion. This process included naming the magazine, developing the logo and masthead, layout, custom photography, copy editing, ads and coordinating website pages. We also created a survey that asked for readers’ thoughts and accepted letters to the editor.
The name of the magazine was also expanded to a wider marketing effort. This included an enewsletter, printed collateral materials, social media and even a large “Living Wheaton” chair in a city park, which invited neighborhood participation through social media. The thought behind “Living Wheaton” was to turn the typical “X City Living” around into something more engaging and exciting. This is how we are LIVING Wheaton: with downtown events and activities throughout the year, a variety of interesting retail shops, educational opportunities and fantastic restaurants.
We also produced buttons and posters for the event kick-off that stated, “I’m Living Wheaton.” This was to help highlight that everyone is a part of this vibrant, modern community. Wheaton may be described as a variety of things to a wide range of people, but they’re all “Living Wheaton.” It keeps the best of the history of Wheaton, but also modernizes it for today’s patrons, families and visitors.
